Innovation and Description: Internet accessibility and inequalities in rural, lower-income communities after disasters

In my research, I study the impact of disasters on Internet infrastructure and access. In particular, I examine how broadband policies by agencies and practices by utility and service providers effect how coastal communities receive Internet services against the backdrop of climate change.

Primary Disaster Justice Benefits:

Communications after storms

Secondary Disaster Justice Benefits:

Infrastructure and planning

Would you recommend others (disaster survivors, disaster-impacted communities) learn more about the activity, project or program to consider adoption of a similar one?

Yes.

What refinements additional to the ones you have implemented would you recommend others consider if they wish to adopt the activity, project or program?

Considering how state-wide policies in different regions impact how services are funded and adopted, in addition to considering how different types of disasters impact Internet infrastructure based on region.
